and as the night goes on, she begins to retreat.
back into her so-called shell, which would bring her relief - albeit temporary.
and so there she stays.

days past, she doesn't know what is happening.
why she could never just let go and live in the present.

and because she stays in the shell for so long, she never grew.
the shell always remained the same size; her comfort zone.
but the shell was bound to break one day,
because u see.
one can never stay there forever, nothing is everlasting.

but because she was so sheltered, she never thought about coming out of the shell.
she thought it would be there forever, to guard her for life.

but, alas
the day did come
and she was forced to choose.
to find another shell, or to just let loose?
